SVS, Segelflygets Veteransällskap invites you to Retromeet 2018. It is integrated into our Vintage Gliding week July 14th–22nd. We define retrogliders to those designed between 1950 and 1970 and our aim is to increase the general interest for these fantastic gliders. But of course all vintage gliders are more than welcome! We fly and have fun every day during this week when the weather cooperates. Briefing at 9 AM next to the museum.
The venue is Ålleberg, Swedens ancient hilltop gliding site. Conceived in 1940 it is still the home of the Swedish Soaring Federations office and the place for advanced gliding courses for instructors, aerobatics, cloudflying etc. It also houses our fantastic glidermuseum and a separate private vintage glider collection (mostly retro). We have simple accomodation in single and double rooms, a camping site with electricity, sauna, restaurant and above all our fantastic nature. You book the rooms, camping site and meals directly with the restaurant at (Say that you belong to the SVS gliding camp): email@example.com, phone +46 5153 7157
The grass airstrip on top of Ålleberg (300 m MSL) is 100 m above the plain and allows good slopesoaring in NW wind. The strip is 700 m grass. We fly mostly aerotow but occasionally we also fly with a winch (we get 250-300 m). There will be some limited hangarspace available. We can also fly with the local club from the airfield ”down” in Falköping, the nearby city, 4 km from Ålleberg. Their winch get 500 m. The surrounding area is good soaringwise and plenty of outlanding fields and small airfields exist. Radio is not mandatory.
We would love to see you with your own retroglider. From the continent we recommend either the ferry-way Puttgarden-Rödby and then Helsingör-Helsingborg or the bridge way via Stora Bält (Denmark) and Copenhagen-Malmö.
