| VGC DATABASE OPERATION MANUAL |

If it is your first visit to the Online Database please read through this manual first. At the bottom is a link to the database that will allow you to log on |

| Internet Explorer Security | If you have a high
level of security set in internet explorer you may have a problem logging in
as the site uses a cookie to overcome this you need to do the following Select Tools-Internet Options-Security Tab-Trusted Sites Click on sites and add the following URL https://vault2.secured-url.com/vgcssl Then click ADD |

| Login | When you select the Database
you will first see the login screen. Enter your Username which is your membership number. and your password. If it is your first visit to the database or you have forgotten your password click on Forgot Password |

| Getting Your Password | To get your password enter
either your email address or you membership number. Your username and password will be emailed to you at the email address you last sent to the membership secretary. You should receive the email almost immediately. If you do not please email the webmaster and provide the following information:-
You will then be sent your login information.

| After Login | After you have logged in you
will see the following menu.
Click on the list you would like to see.

| Membership | The membership record is special. Only you and the administrator have access to this information. If anything is incorrect about your membership details you can edit them by clicking on the Edit link. | ||

| Your Items | From your membership record you can VIEW,ADD and EDIT items to the database. These items can be viewed by all the members but only you and the category moderator and the administrator can edit them. To view the entire list you must go back to the top menu. For example if you click on the Gliders link in you membership record you will see the gliders registered to you. To see all the gliders you have to select "Back to Menu" from the Quick jump drop down menu. | ||

| View | The View link allows you to view all the fields within a record as not all the fields are displayed in the table to save space. Some of the fields are links to allow display or download of pictures or complete documents attached to the record. If you move the cursor over the links a hand is displayed for clickable link for example the thumbnail of the glider will display a 800x600 pixel image. The attached document link will allow download or open of a complete document. | ||
| Add New | Add New allows you to add records to the database. Most fields are text and are very simple to follow. Two special fields allow a picture or a file to be added to the record. | ||
| Thumbnail | These must be JPEG files 80x60 or 60x80 pixels | ||
| Image | This is the full size view picture displayed after you click on the thumbnail. Ideally these should be JPEG 800x600 pixels but other formats will work. | ||
| Documents | These can be any type of file. word documents. Text files PDF. | ||
| Warning | The time allowed to upload a file is currently limited to 2 minutes. If your file is too large or your internet connection is too slow the upload may time out. if this happens add one file, save the record then edit the record and add the second file. If this proves to be a problem the time out may be extended in the future but if it is too long it may cause the database to slow down and affect other users. Time will tell. | ||
| Edit | Allows you to edit your records only | ||
| Delete (Dustbin) |
This allows you to delete you records only. You cannot delete your membership record | ||
| Help | This is only a brief instruction on the database but it should be obvious how most of it works. Please contact the webmaster if you have an specific problems and I will try to help | ||
